Green Spaces in London Bridge

Spring is on its way! Discover a pocket of tranquility in one of the area’s wonderful parks and gardens.

1. POTTERS FIELDS PARK

Potters Fields Park is a huge green open space by the river with spectacular views of Tower Bridge, conveniently located a stone’s throw away from London Bridge City where you can find plenty of options for lunch on the go, or a leisurely dinner. The park extends beyond its spacious lawns to quiet shady walkways and colourful wildlife-friendly gardens, making it perfect for people watching or quiet contemplation.

Potters Fields Park can be accessed via Tooley St, Tower Bridge Road, the Queen’s Walk from More London, or from Shad Thames. SE1 2AA.

2. GIBBONS RENT SECRET GARDEN

A historic and long-overlooked alley, Gibbons Rent was transformed into an innovative container garden by Andrew Burns Sarah Eberle in a project led by Team London Bridge and our partners in 2011.

Local businesses and residents can contribute potted plants to the existing range of indigenous and exotic plants creating a quiet green space for rest and quiet contemplation, complete with a ‘Little Library’ where you can borrow or donate books.

Access from Holyrood or Magdalen St, SE1 2EN

3. ST JOHN’S CHURCHYARD

St. John’s Churchyard is a quiet community park with a children’s play area, peaceful grassy areas for
relaxation, outdoor table tennis and boules facilities and newly-planted wildlife and wetlands beds.

St. John’s Churchyard is next to Tower Bridge Road, Fair Street and Druid Street. The best postcode to use for SATNAV or Google maps is SE1 2AH.

4. GREENWOOD THEATRE POCKET PARK

The Greenwood Theatre pocket park was created as a result of a collaboration between fashion designer Zandra Rhodes and garden designer Joe Swift in 2015, who with the help of Cityscapes transformed the brick facade and pavement outside the theatre into a new pocket park. Colourful flowers surround benches and arbours with space for passers-by to sit and relax.

Greenwood Theatre, 55 Weston St, SE1 3RA

5. GUY’S MEMORIAL GARDENS

The two quadrangles of the historic 18th century Guy’s Hospital have been planted with wild flowers and medicinal herbs. Further down the mosaic tiled colonnade, a courtyard memorial garden commemorates the war dead of the hospital amid tailing lavender and beneath tall plane trees. Look west along Collingwood Street and see the 75m Orchard-Lisle Living Wall install by Team London Bridge in 2019.

Access from St Thomas St or Great Maze Pond, King’s College London Campus, SE1 9RT
