Borough Market Bastille Celebrations

July 9, 2017 - July 9, 2017

Get into the French spirit on Sunday 9th July with Bastille Festival, London’s largest Bastille Day celebrations.

With such a great French community of traders in Borough Market, Bastille Day is quite a cause for celebration. The Market will be full of joie de vivre as, for the 10th year running, the venue is hosting a free festival to celebrate the fabulous fête nationale, along with Better Bankside and Français Du Monde.

Why the 9th? The French national day falls on the following Friday, so to ensure the whole day is dedicated to celebrating all things Français, there will be festivities in and around the Market from 12-6pm.

Borough Market will be opening its doors especially for the celebration with traders and stalls selling French delicacies. From red, white and blue macarons to crepes and croissants, the Market host an array of traditional treats.

There will also be a special French themed free Demonstration Kitchen with Borough Market’s demo chef, Luke Robinson, 12:30-1.30pm and then again 2:00pm-3pm. Luke will be treating us to french classics interpreted in his own contemporary style. It’s sure to be très délicieux!

During the day, alongside traders selling their French fancies, there’ll be traditional waiter’s races, bi-lingual storytelling, Parisian folk music, and petanque playing. Festivities continue into the early evening with a music as well as street theatre, until 6pm.

C’est magnifique!
