Gudrun Sjödén: Four Decades of Colour & Design

Location: Ground Floor Gallery

April 25, 2017 - May 7, 2017

‘Gudrun Sjödén: Four Decades of Colour & Design’ celebrates over 40 years of colourful design and unique expression by the Swedish designer and textile artist. Founded in 1976 by Gudrun and Björn Sjödén, the company’s distinctive printed clothes have taken Swedish colour and style to the world. Today, Gudrun Sjödén is widely recognised as a pioneer of sustainable fashion and the display highlights how environmental thinking is at the core of every collection.

Gudrun Sjödén: Four Decades of Colour & Design features treasures from the company archive including vintage designs, sketches, early catalogues and videos. The exhibition explores how Gudrun Sjödén’s characteristic clothing has developed over the years and offers a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the workings of a fashion business that has grown from a small, single-storey store to one of Sweden’s largest fashion exporters.
