October 1st marks International Coffee Day, a homage to one of the world’s most popular drinks. The day is a celebration of the people in the coffee industry; promoting awareness of coffee’s journey from the farm to your local shop. In celebration of ICW, we’ve compiled a list of 5 great independent coffee shops in London Bridge.   1. Three Wheels Coffee Inspired by founder Rory Doyle’s time working on coffee farms throughout South America, The Shard Arcade based coffee shop stocks the highest-grade Arabica coffee beans.  All the beans are ethically sourced, fair-trade and organically certified. The Shard Arcade, 32 London Bridge Street, SE1 9SG   2. Chapter 72 Owned and run by husband and wife team Rod & Ellie, Chapter 72 Coffee and Cocktail shop was born out of a passion for great coffee. They work alongside a roaster that not only shares the same passion for coffee as they do but also the same values. Every drop of Chapter 72 coffee is from beans sourced ethically from farmers around the world who promote good practices on their farms. 72 Bermondsey Street, London, SE1 3UD   3. Change Please As well as serving award-winning fair-trade coffee, Change Please is empowering the homeless community by training them to be baristas. This dynamic social enterprise is staffed by the homeless, to help the homeless. Their London Bridge wagon is located at the foot of The Shard on St Thomas Street. 32 London Bridge St, London, SE1 9SG   4. F***OFFEE Just as famed for its name as its delicious coffee, the Bermondsey St based café’s single origin beans are sourced from the Purosa region in the eastern highlands of Papua New Guinea. The team are dedicated to ensuring fairtrade guidelines are being met, having twice visited the growers to ensure the beans are entirely traceable. 163 – 167 Bermondsey St, London SE1 3UW   5. London Grind Grind have their own state of the art coffee roaster to supply coffee to their London based shops. Heads of Coffee and Roasting Howard and Sam work closely with a team of boutique importers who guarantee fair pay to farmers. Grind also invest in projects to improve the communities that they rely so much on upon.
