Flea Vintage Market at The Vinegar Yard

Flea, London’s coolest hunting ground for treasures and pre-loved artefacts, has a new home at London  Bridge’s Vinegar Yard. Just a stone’s throw away from London Bridge Station on St Thomas Street, Flea is a conscious and sustainable shopper’s dream with a mix of retail pop-ups and a weekly market. From 2nd March, 2019 the charming community at Flea bring you a wonderful mix of vintage coats, dresses, furniture, ceramics and, the holy grail of any market wander, antiques, vintage brocante, ceramics, signage, artworks, spectacles, books, magazines and vinyl. Combine your visit to the market with all-day brunch and a drink from Vinegar Yard’s street food stalls and bar. Merry & Bite at the Courage Yard

After the success of last year’s ‘Merry & Bite’, the event returns this year with a double day event. The Courage Yard’s Christmas ‘Provisions’ market will be on Friday 7th December 10.30am-3.30pm and Saturday 8th December 11am-4pm. On Friday, head along for ‘Merry & Bite’, the street food market serving warming local food, perfect for a winters lunchtime. Grab a hot patty from PattyMan, a comforting bowl of soup from Ladle, a delicious salt beef sandwich from The Bull and Brisket  or even a few glasses of mulled wine. Silver Gem Gifts – A broad range of quality scarves, hats and gloves in a variety of styles and fabrics. Susan Crame Ceramics – Porcelain ceramics, tableware including vases, bowls, jugs, trinket bowls.  Glazes are pastel shades of green, blue and lemon. Landing at Courage Yard on 2nd June and 11th August, 10am-4pm, Provisions will be the perfect opportunity to stock up on all the essentials – namely seasonal fruit and veg, freshly baked bread, cakes and biscuits, raw honey, delicious cheeses, deli goods, locally-roasted coffee, condiments, sauces and seasonings, craft spirits, olives, spreads and marmalade, ice cream, oysters and more! Provisions will be championing local, independent traders, producers, farmers and makers in order to showcase the very best of what London has to offer and bring it to your kitchens. In addition, local favourites Bermondsey Bees will be joining in for a special ‘Meet the Beekeeper’ pop-up, featuring a glass display hive containing a local honeybee colony from their Bermondsey Street rooftop. The educational experience will give visitors the chance to see their local honeybees at work, learn about their role in London and beyond, try on a bee suit and get a hands on experience with a smoker (unlit), beeswax and propolis! Bermondsey Bees’ multi-award winning raw honey, handmade beeswax candles and their new book ‘Planting for Honeybees’ will also be on sale in the Provisions market. As a nod to the history of an area previously known as ‘London’s Larder, Provisions will also be a part of this year’s London Festival of Architecture which takes place across London during the month of June. An Evening of Cheese

Get ready for late night shopping as Borough Market opens its gates for an evening of cheese on December 7th. Over 20 of Borough Market’s renowned cheesemongers will be ready and waiting to waft an array of exquisite cheeses under your nose. Visitors will have a chance to chat to cheese experts and producers about their craft and find something unique to take home to feature on this year’s Christmas cheeseboard. The night will also play host to Francis and Bronwen Percival, renowned author’s of new book Reinventing the Wheel: Milk, Microbes and the Fight for Real Cheese. They’ll be doing two engaging talks at the demonstration kitchen, the first all about cheese and milk microbes, and the second on farming and cheese flavour. A little later traders will be competing in the ‘cracking of the parmesan wheel’, a head-to-head competition with trader Bianca e Mora. The competition will be fierce – not to be missed!

Merry & Bite

Join StreetFoodMarkets at the Courage Yard on 8th December for their seasonal street feast Merry & Bite. The pop-up event will take place over Friday lunchtime, 11:30am-3pm, at the recently refurbished destination, located off Shad Thames next to Tower Bridge. Feast on global cuisines from 13 of London’s most sought-after street food traders, including the likes of Chalana Steak Wraps, BellyNBao and Comptoir Gourmand. Everyone will be catered for with veggie, vegan and gluten-free offerings on the day. For those who are partial to a festive tipple or two, The Gin Craze will be bringing their converted horsebox bar – making this the perfect place to eat, drink and be merry. The event will also feature an artisan market made up of 20 stalls inside the pavilion at Courage Yard. Expect to find gourmet cheeses, olives, bread, teas, preserves and sweet treats to stock your cupboards with just in time for the party season.
