Published on 04th October 2017

George Orwell and London Bridge George Orwell lived ‘as a tramp in a doss house’ on Tooley Street by London Bridge Station for three weeks in 1931. He wrote up his experiences in Down and Out in Paris and London (1933), his autobiographical investigation into living in poverty in which he tried to understand what it meant to be poor or destitute. Watch out… From 5th -18th October there will be unannounced readings of some of Orwell’s most important texts performed across London Bridge Station. Get published… Send your written response to these readings or your experience of these events in fewer than 600 words to The Orwell Society to have the chance of being published on the Society’s website. #LBLiveStation www.orwellsociety.com
