The Small House at Southwark Cathedral

Southwark Cathedral’s latest major art installation “The Small House’ is now open to the public. Standing at 7.5 meters tall, the striking work by Richard Woods is a colourful 2D cartoon depiction of a terraced house, sitting directly in front of the magnificent Great Screen of Southwark Cathedral. “I see it as a meeting of the architecture of the everyday and the grandeur of the Gothic architecture that is something beyond the everyday,” – Richard Woods  Now in its 11th year, the cathedral’s annual exhibition aims to bringing new contemporary art to those who many not otherwise access it. Previous installations include Please Believe These Days Will Pass by Mark Titchner and doubt by Susie McMurray Opening times are 9am – 6pm daily. First public viewing day: Saturday 6 August to Wednesday 31 August. Admission free.
